Responsiblities:

Enforces County bylaws as required.
-
Enforces load restrictions and orders.
-
Develops public awareness campaigns, and maintains positive public relations at all times.
-
Assists Public Works in the enforcement of overweight permits, and assists in routing truck traffic to avoid road damage.
-
Issues warning tickets, violation tickets, and offence tags where appropriate for bylaw/ provincial statute infractions within the jurisdiction of Enforcement Services.

Liaises with the various RCMP detachments and agencies in providing law enforcement services within Leduc County.

Attends Provincial Court to provide evidence in the event that charges are disputed.
To qualify, candidates must have:
-
A valid class 5 Alberta Operator’s License and an acceptable driving record;
-
Completed a two (2) year post secondary diploma relating to law enforcement or equivalent education, training and experience in the enforcement field;

Completed the required training for Community Peace Officer Level I per the Alberta Solicitor General and Public Security’s policy and procedures manual or be eligible to complete the training;

A minimum of three (3) years related experience in the law enforcement field;

Knowledge of Provincial Statutes related to CPO-I duties;
-
Be able to successfully complete (or have successfully completed) the PARE test (within 6 months); and

Be capable of successfully passing the Alberta Solicitor General and Public Security Enhanced Background screening checks
The ideal candidate will have:

Current First Aid and CPR/AED training
-
Current PPCT certification
-
Current certification for use of Baton and OC Spray
-
Training in radar and laser
-
Training in emergency vehicle operation
-
Training in Commercial Vehicle Weights & Dimensions and CVSA Inspections
Candidates with less experience or training may be considered.
The current salary range for this position is $78,301 - $84,891 to start, with excellent benefits, vacation and pension plans.
