The City of St. Albert has undertaken an aggressive transformation of the Information Technology Services Department using ITIL methodologies and formal project management. In addition, the City is pursuing “Smart City” initiatives designed to leverage new technologies such as data analytics, enhanced communication networks, sensors, performance indicators, open data, and other technological initiatives designed to make the City more financially efficient, prepared for growth, and engaged with and responsive to the needs of our residents.

Reporting to our Manager of Technical Services in IT Services, this individual will part of a team responsible for providing design, maintenance, and trouble-shooting support in the areas of physical and virtual servers, storage, networks, telecommunication systems, and application hosting. The primary focus of this individual will be the City’s server and storage infrastructure, a mixed VMware vSphere and Microsoft Windows environment. This position also serves as an expert multi-discipline technical resource to the IT Services team.

As the Systems Analyst-Infrastructure Support, you will recommend design enhancements, upgrades, and replacements to improve server, storage, and network performance. You will monitor overall server, storage, and network performance and implement maintenance programs. You will also lead the installation and maintenance of the City’s physical servers and storage devices as well as the design, deployment and maintenance of the virtual server environment. The Systems Analyst will also participate in the design, deployment and maintenance of the network, database, and enterprise systems including support of the VOIP system. You will perform specialized project work as required by the Branch Manager or Director.

This position requires an in-depth knowledge of server and storage infrastructure as well as skills in system design, implementation, and maintenance. Strong interpersonal skills are required when dealing with clients, colleagues and contractors. Business acumen, good judgement, and effective communication skills are necessary.

HOURS OF WORK:

A compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off every two weeks).

The successful applicant will need to obtain a RCMP issued Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance.

A valid driver’s license and personal vehicle is a requirement for the position.

Requirements

Diploma in the computer networking administration field, equivalent education and experience may be acceptable

Applicants should have a minimum of four years of directly related experience

ITIL Foundation designation is preferred

VMware VCA/VCP (DCV) certification is preferred

Microsoft MCSA/MCSE (Windows Server) certification is preferred

CompTIA Storage+ or storage vendor certification is preferred

CIPS membership preferred

The role demands strong documentation and project management expertise as well as comprehensive investigation abilities

Salary & Benefits

$69,103 - $84,075 per annum. In addition the City offers a comprehensive benefit package.
