In today's rapidly changing computer technology environment, organizations have become more reliant on transaction software and electronic records. It is critical that these programs and data are secured to ensure corporate services and operations are never at risk. 

 

As the Application & Infrastructure Analyst I for Computer Facilities, your task will be to manage the City's world class data processing sites and ensure mission-critical functions continue when faced with technical challenges. You are the unsung hero for Edmonton's security and operation

 

Here is how you will make a difference everyday: 

  • Assist the supervisor in managing all computer facilities related contracts including equipment leases, maintenance contracts and supplier contracts 
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of equipment layouts in the Corporate data centre and in the architectural design of computer room control systems 
  • Ensure ongoing logical, environmental and physical security of the City's 3 computing facilities
  • Work with the Computer Facilities Supervisor and Corporate Security to resolve or mitigate potential physical and logical security issues as identified in corporate audits
  • Respond to all data centre related emergencies which will require fulfilling 7x24 stand-by shifts 
  • Manage computer facility resources (capacity planning) to pro-actively sustain computer equipment growth (servers, network, storage, etc)
  • Develop/update procedures and processes related to the Facilities area including the IT Facilities Disaster Recovery Plan
  • Supervise/monitor contractors and maintenance staff to ensure work is done properly and not interrupting IT operations
  • Assist the facilities supervisor in developing and maintaining capital and operational budgets for data centre related spending
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Technology or a related field with a minimum 1 year of progressively responsible experience in computer facilities and operations. This experience must include a base level proficiency in the elements of cooling, power management including uninterrupted power supplies, racks, cabling, fire protection and physical security. Those possessing a diploma will be required to have 2 years of relevant experience. Applicants possessing a 1 year related certificate with 4 years of relevant experience will also be considered
  • Experience with various components of a complex information technology infrastructure such as computer networks and servers, storage area networks and information security 
  • Strong technical background to support data centre environment
  • Experience in data center design and capacity planning 
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office Suite (primarily Word and Excel). Experience using Google Applications and/or Remedy is an asset
  • Ability to work with all levels of users and management, even when they may not be direct reports
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills when working with vendors and when developing well detailed procedures
  • Excellent analytical and problem resolution skills
Salary & Benefits

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday. 7x24 stand-by shifts are required

Salary: $37.609- $47.389 (Hourly)
