You must be able to use your own judgment and have the foresight to help others while ensuring your own safety. Firefighting is an extremely challenging and rewarding career. The Surrey Fire Service provides its members with the most up-to-date training in firefighting, rescue techniques, medical emergency procedures, public education, fire prevention initiatives and fire inspection techniques.
Successful candidates will be required to perform a variety of job functions including but not limited to: fire suppression, fire inspections, hydrant maintenance, public education and working with our communications professionals within the dispatch centre.
Minimum Requirements to apply:

Successful completion of an IFSAC or Pro-Board certified NFPA 1001 - Level 2 program with Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations

A current First Responder License or higher level of BC Provincial EMA Licensing (EMR, PCP, ACP). We do not accept OFA licensing

Valid Class 3 or Class 1 B.C. Driver's License with air endorsement and a safe driving record

Grade 12 completion or GED
-
Good physical condition and medically fit for the position of firefighter.
Preferred Qualifications: -
Post-Secondary education, Trades Apprenticeship or Military Training

Work experience related to firefighting such as Paramedic orAuxiliary Firefighter

Trades experience (demonstrating mechanical aptitude).

A history of volunteerism and community participation

Fluency in multiple languages
-
Additional fire service-related courses
