the Building Officials responsible for administration and enforcement of the Building Code Act of Nova Scotia within the Regional Municipality and the CBRM Building Bylaw adopted pursuant to the Building Code Act;
-
the Development Officers responsible for administration and enforcement of the CBRM Subdivision Bylaw and land use bylaws;
-
the Property Maintenance Officers responsible for enforcement of the dangerous and unsightly premises provisions of Part XV of the Municipal Government Act;
-
the By-law Enforcement Officers responsible for the various licensing Bylaws of the CBRM for which they are sworn in as Special Constables to administer and enforce; and
-
the administrative staff supporting them in carrying out their duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS *Copy of Certificates/Licenses must be included with Application to be considered)

A post-secondary Business Administration degree, degree in Planning recognized by the Canadian Institute of Planners, or a structural engineering degree, or equivalent degree to any of these three above referenced; or
-
Registered as a Canadian Building Official by the Alliance of Canadian Building Officials.

At least 2 years experience working for a Municipality in an administrative capacity.

Must possess and maintain a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s Licence.

Ability to use and adapt easily to computer programs and programming concepts.

Must have well-developed and recognizable written and oral communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-
Experience in a management or supervisory role
-
Experience managing a Municipal office.
-
Experience or training in municipal government law.
-
Experience or training in financial management.
-
Knowledge of the Building Code Act and the Municipal Government Act of Nova Scotia.

Knowledge of subdivision by-laws and land use bylaws.
