Working within the Building Division of the Planning and Development Department you will perform duties such as:

Review of geotechnical design work, planning, and reporting
- Review designs prepared by consultants for proper slopes and optimal water drainage and compliance with City Standards and By-laws, Assessing geotechnical reports and provides comments related to slope stability, soil conditions, monitoring construction and compliance with environmental regulations
- Respond to inquiries from internal staff, contractors, consultants and the public
- Collection and analysis of data.
You must have strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; a sound knowledge and ability to operate computer equipment and software as applied to the work performed. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Must possess the ability to communicate and deal effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups including the general public, internal municipal staff and elected officials, and external private and government agencies.
The successful candidate will have:

Completion of a one-year certificate in a discipline of Engineering Technology relevant to the position from a recognized post-secondary institution
- 3 years engineering experience with a demonstrated record of technical knowledge, skills and ability
- or an equivalent combination of related training and experience including some geotechnical experience.

Completion of a two year diploma in a discipline of Engineering Technology relevant to the position from a recognized post-secondary institution

Exposure to relevant engineering work including geotechnical experience.
