Here is a chance to work on diverse projects and apply your engineering expertise to deliver projects within Drainage Services. The exciting projects you will work on may include flood mitigation, wetland designs, overland flow management, creek erosion protection and sewer system odor mitigation. You will develop proactive plans to address flooding and protect the environment from stormwater discharges.

Reporting to the Senior Engineer, Drainage Infrastructure Planning, responsibilities include: 

  • Developing and implementing City-Wide Flood Mitigation Program and Stormwater Servicing
  • Leading or contributing to various projects related to new development flows and assessing existing sewer systems for capacity, demand and flooding concerns
  • Leading project teams in the delivery of drainage related projects, preparing project plans, supporting budget preparations and cost estimates, and developing terms of reference and  project charters as required
  • Conducting technical review of reports received from various internal and external consultants and stakeholders
  • Preparing council reports as required
  • Preparing business cases in support of programs or projects
  • Creating effective presentations and presenting to diverse audience
Requirements
  • Completion of B. Sc. Degree in Civil, Mechanical, Chemical engineering or related field from a recognized university.  Additional courses and/or training in water resources, hydrology and hydraulics, and engineering economics are required.
  • A minimum four years of progressively responsible professional experience in planning, design and construction, and operations of drainage facilities
  • Membership with APEGA as a Professional Engineer or eligible for membership with APEGA
  • Significant knowledge of the engineering principles and standard practices related to drainage construction, hydrology, hydraulics, environmental engineering
  • Strong knowledge and skill in areas of project management principles, sewer design and construction methods, and sewer network analysis
  • Experience in management of consultant projects, leadership of project teams, and coordination of interdisciplinary committees
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, including technical and contractual communication, report writing and presentations
Salary & Benefits

Salary Range: 91M,  PE2, $70,355.65 - $100,510.00 (Annually). Those individuals not having the Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation may be considered for the position at an EIT Salary Grade: PE1, $56,150.07 - $80, 219.62 (Annually)
