The City of St. Albert is seeking an experienced, innovative and motivated individual to assume the position of Manager of Operations in our Public Works Department. As the Manager of Operations you will be responsible for planning and development of short and long term sustainable operational procedures and practices as they relate to areas including roads & sidewalks maintenance, cemetery operations and snow removal practices. You will guide and direct a team of approximately 60 employees, with a focus on ensuring the continued positive customer service orientation of the branch is maintained. This role is responsible to prepare, track and monitor branch operating and capital budgets, contracted services, maintenance expenditures and projects. You will also ensure compliance of legislative requirements and the promotion of safe work practices and procedures.
 

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A breadth of knowledge combined with several years of practical experience is required. Preferred candidates will hold a diploma in the areas of Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Level 3 Public Works Supervisor Certification would be an asset.
  • Candidates should have extensive knowledge and experience (5+ years) in operation and maintenance of public works infrastructure, budget, staff management, and policy development.
  • Experience in construction, project management, and risk management are definite assets.
  • Must possess a high level of interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with other departments, residents, industry representatives and their team.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency using MS Office, GIS, AVL and an operations management software (e.g. Hansen).
Salary & Benefits

COMPENSATION
$91,791 - $111,677 per annum. In addition the City of St. Albert offers a comprehensive benefit package including a pension plan.

HOURS OF WORK
We offer a compressed work schedule of 72 hours bi-weekly (Monday - Friday, 8:00 – 5:00 with a regular day off every two weeks).
