Description
Under the direction of the Garage Foreman/Service Manager, the incumbent will carry-out the maintenance and repairs of all City of Iqaluit owned and operated vehicles and equipment in a safe and secure manner.  The incumbent will keep up-to- date work orders and records including parts used and hours spent on each activity.  They will also prepare parts and material lists for review and processing.

Requirements

The incumbent must have a valid Journeyman Certificate in Heavy Equipment Mechanics with 2-3 years of direct work experience, a Class 3 driver’s license (air endorsed,).  They must be able to set-up and maintain service schedules, handle heavy work-loads, and deal with the public and other staff members tactfully and courteously.  The incumbent must also be available to work evenings and weekends, when required.  The ability to communicate in Inuktitut is a definite asset.

Salary & Benefits

The starting annual salary for this position is $56,818.46 plus an annual settlement/housing allowance of $20,907.43 and an excellent benefits package.
