Location: Newmarket, Ontario. This is a Union position.
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 35; Scheduled Shifts: 0830-1630
Full-Time, Salary $40.88 - $44.43 per hour
Reporting to the Manager, Business Planning and Financial Reporting, and under the guidance and direction of the Senior Financial Advisor, is responsible for providing financial and statistical analysis and forecasting, benchmarking and performance monitoring; performing financial analysis within the Branch and meeting regular reporting interface requirements to the Regional Financial systems; supporting activities relating to the annual operating and capital budget development and review process; assisting with the production of financial statements and reports; performing financial duties and tasks supporting program and service delivery activities within the unit; and providing quality customer service for internal and external customers.
- Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Intermediate standing in the completion of a professional accounting designation program (e.g. CGA, CMA).
- Minimum three (3) years experience in a financial position with responsibilities related to budgeting and financial analysis and experience utilizing computerized financial software.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and practices in a computerized financial environment.
- Knowledge of budgeting processes to support budget preparation and variance analysis activities.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self-management and accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.
- Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and financial software applications.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills to identify and resolve inconsistencies in financial data and to reconcile accounts and resolve a variety of accounting issues / problems.
- Ability to identify areas for constructive change and communicate issues and potential solutions to management.
- Ability to travel to offsite locations in a timely and efficient manner, as required.
- Ability to work outside of regular business hours, as required.
