Position Summary

  • Work under the direction of the Asset Management Coordinator;
  • Carry out the duties required to maintain municipal infrastructure inventories through the use of Asset Management, database, geographic information systems (GIS) software, and other automated systems;
  • Assist with drafting projects and relevant database and records management in support of Asset Management and the department capital program;
  • Assist with data collection and Asset Management related inspections, as required;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications, Competencies

  • 3 year diploma or degree in Engineering, Asset Management or a related field, such as GIS and 3 years of working experience in a related position that includes experience with GIS and related database systems and maintaining municipal right of way infrastructure information;
  • Consideration may be given to candidates with a related 2 year program and four years of related experience with GIS  and related database systems and maintaining municipal right of way infrastructure information;
  • Currently registered or eligible to be registered with OACETT as a Certified Engineering Technician (CET) will be preferred;
  • Experience using ESRI GIS products including ArcGIS 10.X;
  • Experience with database design and customization using software such as Microsoft Access, Visual Basic and SQL Server;
  • Experience collecting data in the field with tablets, GPS enabled devices, etc.
  • Experience using AutoCAD;
  • Experience with Cartography software is considered an asset;
  • Must demonstrate the corporate competencies: Customer Focus, Results Oriented, Integrity and Teamwork.

  • Familiarity with Asset Management concepts and procedures such as asset retirement, condition inspection, risk assessment, performance analysis and life cycle costing;
  • Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) related to tracking work, inspections and associated resources;
  • Knowledge of programming and scripting languages such as Visual Basic and Python will be an asset;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with effective interpersonal skills;
  • Strong organizational, prioritization and attention to detail skills;
  • Ability to work effectively as both a team member and independently;
  • Demonstrated willingness for continuous learning, including new technology and teaching others technology related concepts and work practices;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across departments collaboratively;
  • Ability to work outside and possibly in inclement weather conditions, as required;
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class G driver’s license with a satisfactory driver’s abstract.
Salary & Benefits
