POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Senior Manager Human Resources and Communication Services, you provide broad human resources advisory services to Town leaders and staff in the areas of talent management, total compensation and employee relations.

Key Accountabilities

Coordinates the recruitment and selection process for new employees from vacancy to on-boarding.

Advises and supports managers and employees in employee relations: performance reviews, recognition, progressive discipline, change management, conflict resolution, and interpretation of policies, employment standards, human rights etc.

Assists with the coordination, development and maintenance of the employee appraisal system and probationary reviews.

Provides support to the total compensation program including salary surveys, market trends, and administration. Supports the biennial compensation review process: research, compilation, presentation and implementation.

Contributes to research and development of human resources policies, procedures and programs.

Researches, prepares and maintains job descriptions through market tracking and internal comparisons and equity. Leads the job evaluation committee to maintain internal equity.

Leads the HR Metrics function: collect and analyze data, track and report statistics. Develop and implement programs that identify potential gaps and retain current employees.

Conducts exit interviews, summarizing and analyzing for trends.

Requirements

Degree or diploma in Human Resources Management or equivalent

3 to 5 years experience as a human resources generalist, experience in the public sector is preferred

Certified Human Resource Practitioner (CHRP) designation or qualification would be an asset

Registered Professional Recruiter designation is an asset

Understanding of Alberta Employment Standards, Human Rights Legislation

Proficient computer skills in MS Office Suite, online talent management software, HRIS

Basic financial skills with demonstrated ability to understand and promote a total compensation package and philosophy

Excellent planning, time management and organizational skills

Salary & Benefits

Starting rate ranges between $34.23 to $37.08 and works a 35 hour work week.
