Position Description: Under general supervision and in all weather conditions operate and perform maintenance on assigned heavy equipment including, but not limited to dump trucks, front end loader, flusher trucks, sanders, street sweepers, self-propelled vibratory packers/roller, roads patching and ploughing equipment used by the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in year round maintenance and/or construction of street, roads and facilities. Will perform semi-skilled manual labour using a variety of hand/power tools and other equipment.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of grade ten (10) is required. Candidates that have completed grade twelve (12) or equivalent (GED) will be given preference. Other education equivalencies may be considered. For future advancement opportunities employees must posses the education requirements of the position applied for.
• Minimum of one (1) year related experience in roadways maintenance, which must include the operation of related heavy equipment and trucks.
• Equipment and/or position competency testing may be required prior to employment.
You will possess the following:
• Considerable knowledge of safety precautions, methods and techniques employed in the trucking and heavy equipment industry.
• Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Must be able to successfully complete a profession driver course (ex. P.D.I.C.).
• Valid Alberta class three (3) driver’s licence is required (clear driving abstract is an asset).
• Valid First Aid certificate including CPR must be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire date.
• WHMIS training must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire date.
• Criminal Record Check is required.
• Must be medically and physically able to perform job.
• Must be willing to work outside in all conditions (immunizations strongly recommended for work in unsanitary conditions).
Pay Level: PL 12
Salary Range: $35.27 (Probationary Rate)
$38.66 – $41.42 (Permanent Rates)
